I watch a lot of movies, series and documentaries, so it’s pretty rare that I find something truly unique. One of the best things I’ve seen in a long time manages to meld all these types of storytelling.
The National Geographic limited series MARS is, in a word, amazing. It tells the fictional story of the first efforts to establish a permanent base on Mars twenty years in the future, but seamlessly weaves in a true documentary exploration of the current day missions, studies and preparations that are essential to lay the groundwork for such a mission.
The production is beautiful, and the transitions between today and tomorrow are flawless. If you’re interested in the space program, this is a don’t-miss opportunity.
